15 October 2020

This award is conferred on the country’s citizens who have made a strong contribution in combating the coronavirus infection.

The Khalyk Algyssy (People's Gratitude) medal was instituted in June by a Presidential decree to award workers of education, health, social welfare, and those who distinguished themselves in combating the pandemic. Nurlan Smagulov, President of Astana Group, was among the first Kazakhstanis awarded with the medal.

In April, Astana Group donated equipment for a value of KZT 100 million to combat the spreading of the coronavirus infection. 17 new-generation stationary smart thermographic cameras were delivered to Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, and Karaganda. Such stationary thermographic cameras are among the most state‑of‑the‑art devices in the industry. These devices are capable of making non‑contact temperature measurements automatically and in a stream of people. Such systems are widely used in airports, trade centers, underground and railway stations, banks, and other public places worldwide.

Astana Motors, a subsidiary of Astana Group, allocated KZT 51 million to purchase multiFiltrate acute dialysis therapy equipment (Germany) and donated it to the Nur‑Sultan phthisiopulmonology center.
For a period of two months in the midst of the pandemic in Kazakhstan, Astana Group operated a fund for assistance to the medical community. The company provided everyday lunches to the personnel of City Clinical Hospital No. 1 (Kalkaman), the Emergency Aid Hospital in Almaty, and the Acute Care Hospital. In total, 1,300 people were supplied with meals every day.

Targeted aid was offered during the pandemic to the families of the students of Boarding School No. 2, who found themselves in a difficult financial situation. The company prepared for them the food baskets based on each family’s individual needs.

In May 2020, a dam failure at the Sardobinskoye water reservoir in the Maktaaral District of the Republic of Uzbekistan left more than 800 families homeless. Astana Motors stepped in and purchased more than 400 new furniture sets for a total value of KZT 50.5 million for the Orgebas and Firdowsi villagers in the Turkestan Region, who suffered from the flood.
