PRESENTATION OF THE EIGHTH-GENERATION TOYOTA CAMRY – CAMRY 70
Astana Motors announced the launch of the Toyota Camry 70 business sedan. Presentation of one of the most long-awaited cars in the Kazakhstani market was held in Toyota Center Astana and Toyota Center Almaty.
The eighth-generation Toyota Camry sets new standards in design, ergonomics, car handling, and safety: bright exterior, sophisticated interior, innovative platform architecture, excellent car handling, the roomiest and quietest cabin in its class, a new level of safety as well as a new engine and Direct Shift-8AT.
Striving to create the best cars, Toyota engineers have developed a new approach to design engineering: a global modular architecture TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture). The idea of the architecture is to create bright, unique cars, which give special pleasure while driving. The eighth-generation Camry is the first car in which design and engineering philosophy of TNGA is fully reflected.
A new GA-K platform helped to make a body wider and lower, increasing its stiffness by more than 30% and improving its aerodynamic characteristics. The height of a car became less by 25 mm and the highest point of a hood became lower by 40 mm.
The Camry 70 will be available with wheel disks with diameters of 16 and 17 inches as well as with 18-inch polished alloy wheels. Six different colors are offered, including three new colors: Midnight Emerald Blue, Platinum White Pearl Metallic, and Graphite Metallic.
The interior of the new Camry 70 has no elements, which you saw in a car of the previous generation. The new premium textures and materials are used in finishing. Two color schemes will be offered to customers: Beige and Black. The Tiger Eye finishing will also be available, creating a sense of depth and radiance; it changes its appearance as a viewing angle changes, making it look like a "tiger's eye" stone.
Being the best car in its class, a human-machine interface of the new Camry 70 is represented by three easy-to-follow information displays: a ten-inch color projection display with enhanced image clarity, a seven-inch multifunctional information display integrated in the instrument panel (4.2-inch display in a standard model), an eight-inch display in the center console, which is part of the Toyota Touch® 2 multimedia system with Go navigation.
The basic driver assistance and safety systems consist of a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), front and rear angular ultrasonic sensors, a panoramic view system, a rear-view display with guidance lines, and a full set control systems for braking and traction. The control systems include an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control (TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) as well as Hillstart Assist Control (HAC).
The top engine for the eighth generation Camry will be a new 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine, equipped with an improved D-4S direct fuel injection system and a special electronic variable valve timing system. In addition to it, a recently developed Direct Shift-8AT
automatic transmission is offered. During an engineering process, it was intended to improve the following characteristics: start from standstill, reduction of a noise level, increase of acceleration intensity, operation, and fuel efficiency. The result of the well-coordinated work in figures is as follows: maximum speed - 220 km/ h, acceleration up to 100 km/ h – 7.7 s, average fuel consumption – 8.7 l/ 100 km, CO2 emissions – 197 g/ km.
The engine line will also include 2.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine (181-hp, 231 Nm) and a 2.0-liter 150-hp powertrain, which is equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR) with liquid cooling and electronic system of variable valve timing (VVT-iW). Both of them operate with a 6-speed multimodal automatic transmission that provides smooth and quiet transmission shift, excellent performance, and fuel economy.
The starting price of the car is from 8,970,000 tenge, and the price of the most popular 2.5-liter engine starts from 10,240,000 tenge.
