KMC “ASTANA MOTORS” SUMMARIZED results FOR 2013

28 January, Kazakhstan Motor Company “Astana Motors” summarized activity results for 2013.

 

Portfolio of “Astana Motors” consists of distribution bisuness with brands Hyundai, Subaru, BMW and MINI, retail business with 13 dealerships of Hyundai, Subaru, BMW, MINI, Toyota, Lexus and Nissan, and manufacturing of commercial machinery at entity Hyundai Auto Trans, and company Astana Motors Leasing.

The main results of “Astana Motors” activity for 2013

At year-end 2013, total sales of “Astana Motors” (motor cars and commercial machinery) achieved 21 447 units. Sales gain achieved 63% against 2012. Company established new all-time high of sales. Totally, 165 710 automobiles were sold in RoK as per data of Association of Kazakhstan Auto Business.

20 407 units of motor cars were sold. Company market share was 13.3%. In comparison with 2012, sales gain was 64.4%. Totally, 153 664 units of motor cars were sold at the Kazakhstan market as per data of Association of Kazakhstan Auto Business.

1040 units of commercial vehicles were sold against 747 units in 2012, gain was 39%. Totally, 12 046 units of commercial vehicles were sold in RoK as per data of Association of Kazakhstan Auto Business; gain was 6.78% against 2012.

Incomplete vehicle manufacturer Hyundai Auto Trans produced 1048 units of commercial vehicles against 759 units in 2012; gain was 38%.

“Astana Motors” is the largest payer to RoK budget in the sphere: in 2013, tax and custom assignments to the state budget were 15 billions tenge or about $100 millions; gain was 76% against 2012.

Distributors

In 2013, Hyundai raised from the fourth position to the third one in RoK in overall setoff for automobile brands and was the first of the global brands*: in 2013, 12 250 units were sold against 6 839 in 2012; gain was 79%. In 2013, Hyundai Motor Company awarded Hyundai Kazakhstan with title “The Best Distributor of the CIS and Eastern Europe Region”.

Subaru: in 2013, 1192 units were sold, in 2012 – 581 units; gain was 105%. In the preceding year, Manufacturer of Subaru automobiles – Fuji Heavy Industries honored Subaru Kazakhstan with prestige award Subaru Sales Award for the highest worldwide growth rates in sales of Subaru automobiles.

BMW and MINI: in 2013, 245 units were sold, in 2012 – 222 units; gain was 10%.

Dealers

Toyota Astana Motors: in 2013, 4985 units were sold that was 42% of total brand sales in RoK. In 2012 – 3675 units; gain was 36%.

Nissan Astana Motors: in 2013, 1239 units were sold, 20% of total brand sales in RoK. In 2012 – 747 units; gain was 66%.

Lexus Astana Motors: in 2013, 496 units were sold, 40% of total brand sales in RoK. In 2012 – 342 units; gain was 45%.

“Astana Motors” commercial vehicles sales pattern for 2013

In 2013, 730 units of Hyundai commercial vehicles were delivered to the RoK domestic market against 499 units in 2012; gain was 46%. 318 units were dispatched for export to the Republic of Belarus against 260 units in 2012; gain was 22%.
In 2013, Hyundai Auto Trans entity organized production of new types of vehicles: Hyundai H1 ambulances and Hyundai County reanimation ambulance cars for MES.

Today, portion of Kazakh content is in average 30% of entity production due to production and installation of chassis and equipment bulkheads (bodies, refrigerator trucks, vans and special vehicles).

The main trends of motor cars sales for 2013

  • Consolidation of official sales portion in the market structure. Due to economic growth, as well as taken measures from RoK Government, the following are continued: increase in demand on new automobiles, sold by official dealers, and reduction of used cars import portion. Market becomes more civilized, transparent and customer-oriented.
  • There is growth of customers’ inquiry in the sphere of service quality. Customer adjusts to cooperate with official dealers and becomes more exacting to the service level that prods auto dealers to introduce new loyalty programs and apply new sales and service technologies.
  • Development of dealership network all over the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  • Congenial investment climate and growth in prosperity of citizens in regions promote opening of new autocenters with comprehensive service.
  • Growth of credit sales. During last year, growth of credit sales was observed that associated with expansion of retail lending product portfolio and assurance growth. So, in 2013, portion of credit sales within “Astana Motors” was 33% against 11% in 2012. In fourth quarter of the preceding year, portion of credit sales achieved 40% in KMC.

 

Strategy of “Astana Motors” for 2014

In 2014, Hyundai will provide modernized best sellers Accent, Elantra and Tucson, as well as new i30, Sonata, Genesis and Grand Santa Fe. Subaru will provide new WRX and WRX STI. BMW will start sales of new models of 2 range, 4 range, M3, M4 and crossover X4, also there will be 3.0 liters version of new Х5. MINI will present new generation of hatchback.

1. Qualitative business expansion.

  • Construction of the most modern and comfortable dealerships. In May-June of this year, “Astana Motors” will open four autocenters of “3S” format: Hyundai Premium in Almaty and Astana, which will be the first in the world, which comply with the last standards of Korean motor manufacturer, Hyundai in Kostanai, as well as “Autocenter Bavaria” (BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce) in Almaty. Moreover, in 2014, company will commence construction of multibrand autocenter of Hyundai and Subaru in Aktau and dealership of Subaru in Astana.

Expansion of brands portfolio. In March 2014, “Autocenter Bavaria” will bring to RoK market famous British brand Rolls-Royce, included in BMW Group.

2. Introduction of advanced equipment designed for customers’ satisfaction.

  • Development of Trade-in trend to form complete service package.
  • Further development of convenient automobile lending using our own program – “Finance Products of “Astana Motors”.
  • Development of customer-oriented business processes based on advanced industry IT-solution.

3. Corporate citizenship. Annually, “Astana Motors” supports large number of public projects, rendering assistance in development of culture, art, education and sport.

  • Sponsorship of professional cycling team Pro Team Astana, representing the Republic of Kazakhstan at world cycle tours.
  • Sponsorship of charity marathon “Courage to be the first”.
  • Sponsorship of International Cycle Race “Tour of Almaty”.
  • Sponsorship of national tournament “Kazakhstan Barysy”.
  • Holding of the RoK artists’ exhibitions, issue of catalogues of Kazakhstan art works.
  • Educational grants for gifted children from rural areas.
  • Patronage under special boarding school No. 2 in Almaty and other projects.

4. Contribution to the RoK industrialization. In 2014, Hyundai Auto Trans entity plans to produce 2 636 units of vehicles. Till the end of January, entity will put in operation new plant for different types of commercial vehicles bulkheads. It will allow meeting the requirements of Kazakhstan market on socially important special vehicles of domestic assembly, as well as increase export of production with high Kazakhstan content added value.
