Chery Cares About the Future: Green City and Green Technologies
Last weekend, an annual environmental campaign aimed at making the city greener and building a culture of caring about nature was held in the pine forest in the Alatau district of Almaty. The campaign was initiated by the Chery automobile brand officially represented in Kazakhstan by Astana Motors.
Chery extensively promotes sustainable development. As part of corporate ESG initiatives, the company created the With Chery With Love (WCWL) platform, which, together with partners, implements environmental and social projects in over 21 countries, including Kazakhstan. These initiatives reflect Chery’s social responsibility and demonstrate a holistic approach to environmental and social issues both globally and locally — in all countries where the brand is present.
The event was attended by more than 60 people, including employees of Chery Kazakhstan distribution, dealerships, partners, as well as invited journalists and influencers. In a few hours, the participants planted about 50 small-leaved elm trees. This species is resistant and undemanding in the Almaty climate, and takes root well in the spring. The total planted area was about 250 square meters.
According to ecologists, the pine forest area is in particular need of additional care and replenishment. Before starting the work, the participants were instructed and received all the necessary equipment. Last year, the company held a similar campaign and planted 30 trees near Lyceum No. 90 along Mametova Street. This year, the event has grown and the team of supporters has become larger.
Addressing environmental issues, Chery is taking a step towards modern technologies for cars with a low environmental footprint. In 2025, the brand plans to introduce a line of new hybrid models to the Kazakhstan market: the Tiggo 4 HEV, the Tiggo 7 PHEV, the Tiggo 8 PHEV, the Tiggo 9 PHEV and the Arrizo 8 PHEV. All cars are equipped with a parallel hybrid system, in which the internal combustion engine and electric motor can operate both together and separately. HEV and PHEV technologies can significantly reduce emissions and fuel consumption. Chery plans to make eco-friendly cars more affordable for Kazakhstani drivers, thereby supporting the movement towards a greener and more responsible future in our country.
