Zhanibek Kanatbaev, an Employee of Astana Motors Wins the Silver Medal at the World Muay Thai Championship
Zhanibek Kanatbaev, an employee of the Astana Motors Fast Response Service, won the silver medal at the World Muay Thai Championship. The competition was held from May 24 to June 4 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and became a ground for 700 athletes from 80 countries.
Zhanibek performed in the weight category up to 67 kilograms. Kanatbayev confidently defeated his competitors: Henry Rohtla (Estonia), Erdem Taha Dincer (Turkey). He also proved to be stronger than Karimjon Karimov (Uzbekistan). The Kazakhstani successfully reached the final and in a hard struggle lost only to the captain of the Thailand team Anueng Khatthamasri, taking the honorary "silver" of the World Championship.
“Zhanibek is a master of sports of international class in Muay Thai, a high-class athlete, and a member of the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From an early age, he was keen on Greco-Roman wrestling and boxing, performed at international sports competitions, and won prizes,” says Meirkhan Umirbekov, Deputy Director of the Security Department of Astana Motors. “We closely followed the fights at the Championship, cheered for Zhanibek, and we are very proud of his achievement!”
Zhanibek got on the podium with the flag of Kazakhstan and the flag of Astana Motors. He explains that by saying that he is very proud of his work in the company.
“It was an honor for me to raise the flag of our Republic and the flag of Astana Motors at such an important international event,” says Zhanibek, “I am convinced that in the future I will be able to achieve even better results.”
In the team total, the Kazakh team took the 9th place, having won 2 gold, 7 silver and 1 bronze medals.
