Winter season-2014: our first wins!

Winter motor sport season is at the very height in Kazakhstan. It started very successfully for team of “Astana Motors – Steppe Wolves”.

“Samuryk-2014”

In this year, start of race season was delayed due to very warm weather in the north regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. However, as ice cover, which is the main for winter disciplines’ competitions, settled at 1.5 meters level, 1st stage of the Republic of Kazakhstan Rally-Sprint Cup “Samuryk-2014” was started at the Pestroe Lake in Petropavlovsk.

At the end of January, the North Kazakhstan welcomed sportsmen and women with frozen and snowstorms. Several special sections of route were canceled due to bad visibility. Team “Astana Motors – Steppe Wolves” cannot participate in full strength at this stage, but crew of Valeriy Borodin and Andrei Gavrasov made a good showing and won “bronze” in class “AWD”.

The 2nd stage of the Republic of Kazakhstan Rally-Sprint Cup “Samuryk-2014” was on 1 February in Bukhar-Zharau region of Karaganda oblast on the territory of Chkalov water reservoir. Our team was represented in class “Mono” by crew of Peter Borodin – Roman Cheprasov, winners of the Republic of Kazakhstan Rally-Sprint Cup “Samuryk-2013”, and in class “AWD” by crew of Valeriy Borodin – Andrei Gavrasov. Total length of ice distance was 80km at 8 special sections. Crew P. Borodin – R. Cheprasov won with more than two seconds margin that allowed “Steppe Wolves” came third in the team event. Crew V. Borodin – A. Gavrasov was fifth in its class and on aggregate of two stages, it takes the second line in final protocol.
There are two stages of Cup in the future: 14-15 February in Pavlodar and 8 March in Astana.

“Snow Bars-2014”

Rally-sprint competition “Snow Bars-2014” was on 8-9 February in Almaty oblast on the territory of sport complex MobilEx; this competition opened rally season of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The best was the youngest crew Borodin – Cheprasov on Subaru Impreza in class of AWD automobiles on slippery routes. For this once, they outpaced competitors for 2 minutes 25 seconds.

Our team at “All-Star Motor Race 2014”!

Pilot of “Astana Motors – Steppe Wolves” – Alexander Artemyev will participate in traditional “All-Star Motor Race 2014” for the prize of magazine “At the wheel”, on 22-23 February in Moscow. From the last year, it will be the second participation of our sportsmen in this winter track competition at the Russian party invitation.
