NURLAN SMAGULOV: ACTIVE AND PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY MATERIAL BENEFITS
Astana Motors has fulfilled the dream of the children with special needs. A batch of the new exercise equipment for rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal system disorders has been delivered to special boarding school No. 2 in Almaty.
“Astana Motors started helping us 20 year ago. Since that time the company has assisted us in educating, arranging medical treatment, socializing our students and has supported us in our numerous activities. The company has gifted us a spacious Hyundai minibus, sports equipment, and special desks. There are too many things to list,” says Bakhyt Ermekova, Director of the boarding school.
A total of 178 children study in special boarding school No. 2 in Almaty, and also 216 children study at home whom the teachers visit twice a week. These are children with special educational needs related mainly to a diagnosis such as cerebral palsy. The staff members of the boarding school (speech pathologists, speech therapists, and psychologists) do their best to help the children with socializing and adapting in the real life. The students of the school won many times in various national and international paralympic championships in swimming, arm wrestling, and table tennis.
Despite invaluable contribution of the experienced professional staff of the boarding school, any rehabilitation is impossible without special exercise and physiotherapy equipment. Therefore, Astana Motors has purchased additional equipment for the school: special orthopedic chairs, interactive desks, equipment for exercising lower extremities, and the KOBRA mechanotherapy device for mechanical therapy of the children that helps to form muscles and develop them. All muscles can be developed individually as well as in a group. It is a multi-purpose device for exercising in a suspended position with an elastic support. The Gross exercise equipment has been also purchased: it lets train the children’s voluntary movements and statics. It also helps to solve partial tasks: to relax muscles under hypertonia and hyperkinesia, stimulate weakened muscles, and train normal flexibility in the joints. The equipment lets create training conditions even for the children who do not possess movement functions perform various kinds of exercises in a natural vertical position.
