Smagulov told how the model range of the multi-brand plant in Almaty will change
At the Beijing Motor Show, Astana Motors founder Nurlan Smagulov met with Mr. Irwin Lee, Executive Vice President for Foreign Markets of Changan Automobile. The working meeting concerned the successful current partnership and plans for the future, Astana Motors reported.
Changan in Kazakhstan became known in 2022, when the companies signed a memorandum on distribution of the brand in Kazakhstan. Changan is the third Chinese brand in Astana Motors' distribution portfolio, with its own character, design and fans. Now the brand is among the top 10 best-selling brands in Kazakhstan and ranks 3rd among Chinese brands by the results of the first quarter of 2024.
“We had a very important meeting with Mr. Lee. Of course, we discussed new products that we can present to Kazakhstanis this year, but the main topic of the meeting was the multi-brand plant, what models we will produce there, as we have big plans not only for the domestic market, but also for export", - said Nurlan Smagulov.
We are talking about Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan, a multi-brand plant currently under construction in the Almaty industrial zone, which is preparing production sites for the Changan, Haval and Chery brands. However, the model range is still being specified due to rapidly changing trends in the automobile market.
“We have set ourselves a time limit until the production equipment is installed. We approve the model range with parent brands, because there is a double responsibility here: we are committed to producing quality cars, Chinese partners promise to provide export routes for 60% of the output,” said Akylbek Anarbayev, development director of Astana Motors.
However, according to Nurlan Smagulov, the Motor Show is intense and interesting not only for businessmen. A lot of stands, bright novelties and what is especially important - the material “echo” of the Beijing Motor Show will definitely reach Kazakhstan dealer centers this year, the fresh novelties of one of the world's major automakers will be available not only to look at, but also to buy for personal use.
