Nurlan Smagulov and Chery head attend Tiggo 9 presentation in Beijing

Nurlan Smagulov, founder of Astana Motors, met with Mr. Yin Tongyao, Chairman of the Board of Chery Holding Group, and Mr. Zhang Guibin, President of Chery International. Kazakh businessman arrived in the Chinese capital to visit the Beijing Auto China Motor Show, as well as to discuss further development plans with international business partners.
“The first priority for us now is the development of the car industry in Kazakhstan and localization of production. We are building a multi-brand plant where we will produce Chery cars. We are also interested in the production of automotive components. We met with Mr. Yin Tongyao and Mr. Zhang Guibin last autumn in Almaty, then this spring in Wuhu at the Chery plant, and now once again we held talks in Beijing and discussed production issues. We have already agreed that Kazakhstan will produce auto components for Chery cars manufactured in Kazakhstan, in particular car seats,” said Nurlan Smagulov to reporters.
Nurlan Smagulov also visited the Beijing Motor Show, where he attended the presentation of the updated Chery Tiggo 9 together with Chery heads.
“This is a long-awaited updated model, which has aroused great interest. Chery Tiggo 9 will appear in Kazakhstan already this fall,” Nurlan Smagulov shared his plans.
Nurlan Smagulov was also asked to comment on the situation with the prices of Chinese cars in Kazakhstan.
“Prices in Kazakhstan have recently been reduced by a number of distributors, including our company, ahead of the model year update. The reduction affected models of 2023 model year. These are normal seasonal sales for any brand. There are no plans to reduce prices for 2024 products, we expect prices to stabilize. But we are also developing new financial products so that buying a car for our customers would be profitable and affordable", - answered Nurlan Smagulov.
Note that Chery sales in Kazakhstan started in December 2021. The official distributor is First Motor Group, part of Astana Motors. Dealer network of Chery brands includes 19 cities of Kazakhstan, as well as online dealers.
