Presentation of a New Subaru Forester in Kazakhstan
An official distributor, Subaru Kazakhstan, which is part of Astana Motors, conducted the first test drives of the new Subaru Forester in Almaty.
The new Forester is based on the global SGP platform (Subaru Global Platform). Compared with the previous model, the crossover is longer by 15 mm and wider by 20 mm. The ground clearance remains the same: 220 mm (by the way, the clearance of the model is the highest one among its counterparts that makes it possible to drive a car in off-road conditions).
The interior of the car has become more sophisticated. Only high-quality leather and soft-touch plastic are used in the interior trim. A standard console, an instrument panel, a climate control, and a steering wheel were re-designed in the Forester’s interior. The seats have new upholstery and shape.
The main advantages of the fifth generation Subaru Forester are as follows:
• All-round visibility that is one of the outstanding features of Subaru vehicles;
• Large trunk (increased by 40 liters);
• Original Symmetrical AWD;
• New Subaru Boxer engine;
• New Subaru Global Platform (SGP);
• Ground clearance (220 mm);
• New X-Mode system of the second generation with two modes of the engine, transmission, and brake system operation;
• SI-Drive system with two modes of operation that control the engine and transmission;
• Modernized variator: Lineartronic of the second generation;
• Steering responsive headlights (SRH);
• Multimedia system with 6.5 and 8.0-inch touchscreens with Bluetooth support;
• Rear view camera with washer;
• Side view camera;
• Dual-zone automatic climate control;
• Availability of the latest generation infotainment system;
• Premium Harman Kardon audio system
Special attention should be given to the EyeSight driver assistance system, consisting of six auxiliary functions: adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking system, pre-crash throttle control, lane change warning system, line crossing warning, and warning of a front car’s moving off.
In addition to it, the new Subaru Forester, using the SRVD system, helps to detect a vehicle moving behind. The system includes four functions: a lane change assistance (LCA) system, which is based on radar sensors, spots vehicles in the adjacent lane; a rear cross traffic alert system (RCTA) detects cars approaching from the right or left; a blind spot detection system (BSD) identify vehicles in blind zones with a help of radar; a reverse automatic braking system (RAB) uses radar sensors to detect obstacles behind a vehicle. If an obstacle is detected, the system will warn a driver and can apply automatic braking to avoid a collision.
It is worth noting that the new Forester is recognized as the most reliable car at the annual national award “Car of the Year” in Russia. The model received the highest safety rating in “TOP SAFETY PICK 2018” and was awarded “5 STARS” based on the results of the Euro NCAP safety test.
Four specifications of the new model will be offered in Kazakhstan.
A car can be purchased through the Subaru Finance and Subaru Trade-in programs.
