Anar Makasheva, President of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union:
“Kazakhstan’s automotive market has been formed relatively recently and has gone through crises in different years. Today, we combine resources and experience and take on the mission to develop the industry, the country’s export potential, deepen localization, develop the component base and guard the interests of automakers and businesses. The domestic auto industry has already reached that level, when manufacturers have enough competencies to completely switch 100% to car body welding and painting and establish the production of auto components in Kazakhstan, which at the same time will contribute to the development of small and medium-sized businesses and the formation of a pool of qualified engineering personnel.”

Today, the automotive market of Kazakhstan is one of the most dynamically developing sectors of the economy. Local production plays a significant role in the progress of the industry. According to the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, the automotive industry, with a share of 38.6 %, is one of the leading engineering industries in the country. In total, 123,800 cars were sold in the republic last year, of which 77 % or 94,700 cars were domestically made.

The Kazakhstan Automobile Union also regards among its priority tasks the industrialization of Kazakhstan through the development of the domestic automobile industry by combining the resources of existing and future Kazakhstani enterprises. The Kazakhstan Automobile Union pursues the industry development strategy based on business scaling, industrial cooperation, the development of a cluster economy, the formation of technology parks with the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises for the production of auto components around automobile plants that are able to provide orders to SMEs. All these are new opportunities for creating jobs and training qualified personnel for the engineering industry.
