TECHNODOM — BMW OPEN CUP 2016

In Almaty, the winners of the amateur tennis tournament Technodom - BMW Open Cup were determined.

From June 18 to 19, courts of the Almaty tennis club Gorky Tennis Park hosted an open tennis tournament among fans of “Technodom - BMW Open Soup”.  The head of the Tennis Federation of Almaty, the chairman of the board of directors of the “Technodom” company Eduard Kim, described the features and rules of the competitions.

“This tournament in amateur tennis is held annually in Gorky Tennis Park. The rules of the competition are determined by the organizers of the tournament, that is, categories are established, age categories are determined, gender identity is established .This year, Technodom and Astana Motors with BMW brand conducted a single a tournament for men over the age of 35. Also, applications were accepted for participation in the mix: an amateur male and a professional woman. The draw was held according to the amateur rating of the participant. The subgroups headed the athlete sided rating with the highest rating, the rest of the participants were with fewer or no rating at all. This system allowed us not to interfere with two experienced athletes at the initial stage, and two qualified tennis players already competed for the finals: in total 64 athletes took part: 32 participants in a single tournament, and 32 in a mix” - said Edward Kim.

The current draw of the tournament was marked by the introduction of a kind of innovation. In addition to rating points, especially successful participants received a bonus.

“This year, each participant who passed in the next round was awarded a cash prize. It so happened that this tournament is familiar to tennis fans who try to get on it and prepare for it. The successful performance allows obtaining ranking points. In addition, all participants of our competition, gain experience, and actively spend time with their families” - added Edward Kim.

In addition, the holding of “Technodom - BMW Open Cup” is one of the steps to popularize tennis as a sport.

“The main objective of the tournament is to popularize this sport. Almost every participant has his own family. The courts come to their children who also possess the skills of tennis. Therefore, we plan to expand the tournament, adding a little competition among children. As the head of the Tennis Federation in Almaty, I am responsible for the development of tennis and one of the main strategic tasks is the development of this sport among children under 10. In this direction we have made good progress. For summer, each city court is involved for available employment tennis”, - concluded Eduard Kim.
