Changan Becomes Kazakhstan’s Best-Selling Chinese Auto Brand and Enters Market Top Three

Changan became the best-selling Chinese automotive brand in Kazakhstan and ranked among the country’s three top-selling car brands in May 2026, according to data released by the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAO).
The brand sold 1,793 vehicles during the month, capturing a 10.3% market share. This performance placed Changan third overall in Kazakhstan’s passenger vehicle market, ahead of Kia and behind only Hyundai and Chevrolet.
During the first five months of 2026, Changan sales reached 6,906 units, representing a 79.5% year-on-year increase. The result marks one of the strongest growth rates among major automotive brands operating in Kazakhstan.
Two Changan crossover models emerged among the country’s best-selling vehicles in May. The CS55 Plus and CS35 MAX each recorded 637 sales, sharing third place in the monthly model rankings. Both models were surpassed only by the Chevrolet Cobalt and Hyundai Tucson.
The popularity of Changan vehicles in Kazakhstan is driven by their combination of modern design, advanced safety technologies and comprehensive equipment packages. Features such as 360-degree camera systems and intelligent driver-assistance technologies have become important factors for local consumers.
Changan’s current lineup in Kazakhstan includes crossover SUVs, a sedan, a liftback and a pickup truck. Available models include the CS35 MAX, CS55 Plus, CS75 Plus, UNI-K, UNI-V and Hunter Plus.
The CS55 Plus remains the brand’s most popular model. In 2025, sales of the crossover reached 5,558 units, making it the best-selling Chinese passenger vehicle in Kazakhstan.
Changan’s expansion in Kazakhstan is supported by both its nationwide dealer network and local manufacturing operations. The brand’s vehicles are produced at the multi-brand Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan plant in Almaty, which commenced operations in September 2025. Local production has improved vehicle availability and strengthened the brand’s position in the market.
Today, Changan is represented by 31 authorized dealerships across 19 cities in Kazakhstan.

Sales of Kazakhstan-Built JAECOO J5 and J7 PHEV Begin
The official OMODA and JAECOO distributor, part of Astana Motors, has announced pricing for two new JAECOO models in Kazakhstan. The JAECOO J5 compact crossover is priced at KZT 9,490,000, while the JAECOO J7 PHEV plug-in hybrid is priced at KZT 12,790,000. Both models are offered in their top specifications. The vehicles are covered by a 5-year or 150,000-km warranty, whichever comes first.

Kazakhstan strengthens cooperation with Korea in the automotive industry and the arts
Astana Motors and the Almaty Museum of Arts, founded by Nurlan Smagulov, have signed cooperation agreements with Korean partners in Seoul. The documents were signed during the first Central Asia - Republic of Korea Summit, held as part of the visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Republic of Korea.
