New Hyundai models will appear in Kazakhstan: Smagulov held talks in China

Already in May, sales of Hyundai Custin minivan will start in Kazakhstan. The model was created for the Chinese market and become international.

Nurlan Smagulov, the founder of Astana Motors, met with Mr. Oh Ikkyun, the head of the business unit in the PRC and CIS markets. The Kazakh businessman arrived in the Chinese capital to visit the Beijing Auto China Motor Show, as well as to discuss further development plans with international business partners.

“As you know, Hyundai's auto component plants are located in several countries around the world, including China. For Kazakhstan, this is a favorable route in terms of logistics. We have negotiated and agreed to supply auto components for new models for production at our Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan plant in Almaty. Earlier we agreed to supply components for the Hyundai Custin model; the cars have already been produced and will go on sale in May. This is a 7-seat minivan, well suited for Kazakhstan, for active families with children, as well as for business,” said Nurlan Smagulov to reporters.

Note that the plant Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan has been operating since October 2020 and produces 10 models of Hyundai. The capacity of Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan is 50 thousand cars per year. In 2022, the plant produced 37,205 cars, in 2023 - 48,857 cars. For the first quarter of 2024, 9,934 cars were produced.

Hyundai Motor Company presented new products from its Hyundai and Genesis brands at the Beijing Motor Show.

“China is now becoming one of the world leaders in the auto industry and is attracting a lot of attention, and it's not just Chinese brands that are represented here. More than 100 thousand people visited the Motor Show on the first day. The novelties presented here are not only for the Chinese market, but for the world market, including Kazakhstan. That is, we get the latest novelties of automotive products at the same time with the whole world,” said Nurlan Smagulov.
